In this modern age of growing piracy and illegal downloads of copyrighted materials including music, websites which are providing legal downloads are indeed a relief. Illegal music downloads have an adverse effect on most of the record companies, and this can ultimately lead to their closedown. Hence legal music downloads are ideal in that you get the music you want without getting caught up in legal tussles. Legal music downloads are available either through public domain websites or through pay services.
Public domain websites which are offering legal music downloads mostly contain music for which the copyright period has expired, and therefore is royalty free. This public domain music can be owned by anyone for ones own use and for free distribution. The music can be modified as well. Most public domain music websites offer the works of independent and unsigned musicians, who contribute their music free to the online community, in order to popularize their work in a cost-effective manner. In the process they get a good number of fans as well.
Legal music downloads are made available by websites which are offering pay services. In these websites, the music downloads are completely legal, since these websites give a portion of the money obtained from selling music online as royalty to the artist or company who owns the music. Often such pay websites takes care to update their collections with new releases of music albums at the same time they are being released worldwide. Easy categorization of music according to their genre helps visitors of pay sites to easily search and download their favorite music.
While selecting a particular legal music download website which is offering music through payments, it is ideal to check whether the website has user review sessions. By reading user reviews, music lovers can easily identify whether the music they wish to download is worth listening to and buying. Most commercial websites providing legal downloads have both audio and video versions of music available for download. For video downloads, it is best to have a broadband connection as it offers greater transmission speeds, resulting in faster downloads.
With strict copyright laws being enforced worldwide, many websites which had earlier provided illegal music downloads have now transformed themselves to commercial websites offering only legal downloads. Such moves in the online music industry can make a significant contribution towards achieving totally legal music downloads online.
There are also a few websites offering music which can be burned directly to compact discs, apart from providing the facility for legal music downloads. With all music downloads going legal, the benefits are to the music companies and artists who work to create excellent, original music content.

Music nowadays seems to be one of the most popular hobbies that the youngsters are indulging in. For some, it may be just a pure form of entertainment or a way of living, whereas for the others, it can be a serious escape from their stressful lives. They use music as a medium of conveying their suppressed emotions. Not too surprisingly, it makes them really into music.Because of the different influences that the youth are exposed into, they are easily acquiring the curiosity of engaging into learning music. It may not exactly be reading musical notes and the other formal stuff regarding such, but at least, something highly relevant to it like playing musical instruments or simply singing.Before, people, specially the youth, viewed Music, a subject in their primary and secondary schooling, as a conservative and boring one. With lots of different bits and pieces that should be memorized and understood without knowing their use and purpose, music then had been a vague and dull form of school activity to do.Perhaps, the reason is that they relate music with church where they usually hear the hymns and praises when they were kids. They thought music should be solemnly expressed all the time.As these young people aged up, they began to realize how interesting music could be far from what they used to perceive. From all the different genres and styles, they found a match. I am truly glad to say that finally, they are now fascinated with music learning as well as music teaching.Many are aware that music centers began to spring suddenly nowadays. People look for formal lessons and their aim is, of course, to learn music. They also want to develop the talents they believe they are blessed with.Music teaching is definitely an issue when talking about learning music. Aside from being considered as something pretty difficult and tedious, many believe that it requires lots of effort, patience, and passion in doing so.However, with the kinds of trends, technology and methods that we have right now, music teaching has become less complicated. Indeed, different resources and tools are made readily available to be an aid to anyone who has interests in music teaching. It may be through various means like seeking the help and guidance of music enthusiasts and experts, enrolling in various learning centers, reading music-related books, availing advanced music gadgets, or browsing the web.Music teaching has been both the career and passion of many musically inclined individuals around the globe. Thus, schools of music spring forth worldwide, paving the way for music enthusiasts for greater opportunities globally. That is how powerful music and music teaching can be.

Shakespeare once said, “If music be the food of love, play on”. The power of music over the human mind is enormous, and that’s putting it lightly. Music therapy is the use of music for therapeutic purposes by a trained professional. The idea of using music as a healing influence dates back to the time of Plato and Aristotle. In the modern world, music for therapy came to the fore when musicians played for war veterans to cure them of physical and emotional trauma. Since many of the patients responded well, nurses and doctors began requesting the services of musicians for therapy.
Soon, music therapy became recognized as an effective and scientifically-backed mode of treatment. The first music therapy degree program ever was established in 1944 in the State of Michigan, U.S.
A trained music therapist gauges the emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning and cognitive skills through the patient’s responses to music. Once the assessment is complete, the practitioner designs music session for individuals or groups. The therapeutic music is prepared based on client needs and uses music improvisation, song writing, lyric discussion, imagery and musical performances.
Using music for therapy can be a very powerful way to reach children and adolescents. Elderly people and people with developmental and learning disabilities, people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and age related problems and people in acute pain also benefit from music therapy. Music therapy is a powerful way to help people express their feelings.
Professional music therapists are usually found in rehabilitative facilities, psychiatric hospitals, medical hospitals, drug and alcohol programs, nursing homes, correctional facilities, schools and private practice.
Some people mistakenly believe that a patient needs to have some particular musical ability to benefit from therapy. There is no one particular style of music that is more therapeutic than the rest. Any style of music can be equally effective. Any person can be a patient. The patient’s background, needs and history help determine the type of music used.
Even healthy people can make use of the healing powers of music. Listening to or making music, playing or drumming can greatly reduce stress and improve productivity. Research shows that music is a vital support for physical exercise. Music therapy is even said to assist labor and delivery.
In hospitals, music therapy is used to alleviate pain and is often used in conjunction with anesthesia or pain medication. A question that is often raised is why use music if anesthesia does the same thing? Music helps because it dissolves emotional barriers and elevates the patient’s mood. Music also counteracts depression, calms and even sedates patients. In a nutshell, music helps reduce muscle tension and brings on a deep and satisfying relaxation.
Since 1994 music therapy has been identified as a reimbursable service in the U.S. Music therapy is considered active treatment’ when it meets the following criteria:
- Is prescribed by a physician
- Is reasonably necessary for the treatment of the injury or condition
- Is based on a documented treatment plan
- Is showing some sort of result in the patient
The future of music therapy is indeed very promising as more and more research supports the effectiveness of music against diseases like Alzheimer’s and chronic pain.

Have you always dreamed about working with music, but weren’t sure where to look for jobs in music and the music industry? The good news is that there are a lot more jobs in music than most people think. Performing positions include working with a studio band, playing with an orchestra and playing with a band at weddings, dances and local clubs. Outside performing, there are many other jobs in music that help support musicians from education through selling their music. The bad news is that those jobs in music are a little harder to find than most jobs. If you’re hoping to score yourself one of those jobs in music here are some hints and tips to help you along.
1. Yes, you’ll find some jobs in music in the newspaper ads.
Look under Professional in the Sunday job listings for the best luck, but ads for companies hiring in the music business are few and far between. You’ll have far better luck if you subscribe to some of the industry’s professional papers and magazines. If you’re looking for a job teaching music, for instance, regularly check the job listings in papers aimed at teachers and education professionals.
2. Internet job search sites are a good place to find jobs in music
…but skip the big name sites. http://Monster.com and HotJobs! tend to attract hordes of applicants which the music companies have already. One difference is music teaching and music therapy jobs. If you’re looking for jobs in music therapy or education, the big boards are likely to have far more job leads for you than they will for performers. The same holds true for those seeking jobs in accounting, management or advertising within the music industry. Even then, though, you’ll have better luck at job sites aimed directly at performers and the music industry like http://www.performingjobs.com and http://www.findagig.com.
3. Do some research and approach the companies where you’d like to work directly.
It takes a lot of nerve, but then, that’s what this business is all about, isn’t it? If you’re serious about finding jobs in music production, performance or promotion, you need to show the hiring agents you have what it takes. If you can’t promote yourself, why would they think you can promote someone else? Get out there and do your research to find record labels, production companies and indie companies that you’d like to work with, and then get your resume out into the hands of the people who make the hiring decisions.
4. For teaching and education jobs, approach school departments directly.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in music education are going to be one of the fastest growing segments of the music industry through 2014. If your ambition is to teach music, organize a school band or head up a school orchestra, the direct approach is the best. Research school departments to find out which are (or may be) hiring, and find out the names of the people who make the decisions on hiring music professionals for the schools. Try to make personal contact before sending your resume so that when your resume arrives on the desk, they’ll already be looking for it.
5. Networking is the one strategy that always works.
Especially in jobs in music promotion and production, where your value lies in how well you can network to get the word out about the bands that you’re promoting. Join local professional associations, hook up with agents and performers and get to know the movers and shakers in your local music scene. That’s the best way to get your foot in the door.
6. Take advantage of school resources.
If you’re in school, take advantage of school resources to get placements as an intern with a radio station, production company or other media company. On the job experience is invaluable in music jobs.
7. Be persistent.
The music industry is volatile and ever changing. The company that isn’t hiring today could be looking for five new publicists tomorrow. Keep on top of job openings in the music industry by checking back on directory and job listings often.

If you are a music lover the Internet music industry has given you access to music like never before. No matter your taste in music, if it’s grooving to the latest hip hop tracks, or relaxing with classicial music, no problem. You can find what you like and download it within minutes.

By using special software you can now legally download just about every song that has ever been written. That’s a lot of music and should keep you happily busy for a good long while.

The Internet really has changed the music industry. At first the music industry powers that be misunderstood the Internet. They ignored it thinking that it was a geekish fad that would soon past. Let the nerds download a few songs from here and there. No matter. How many music loving nerds are out there anyway?

Apparently millions. After just a year or two, as the few nerdy downloads tuned into a flood, the music mogals decided they had better fight back. Thay actually brought lawsuits to bear upon poor average folks who enjoyed listening to music, especially free music they were collecting with peer to peer networks on the Internet. Good hard working folks like your uncle Bob and even Grandmother Beth were served with scary legal papers demanding that they cease all of that Internet music stuff and repent.

But folks love that Internet music. The more the music mogals sued and threw fits over revenue losses the more downloads took place. Millions and millions and zillions of them. Clearly the music bosses were on the wrong side of this issue.

Finally the lights begin to flicker on inside the captains of the music industry’s heads. Perhaps the lights would have come on sooner if they had been thinking clearly about how big a deal the Internet and computers were to become.

But one can’t be too hard on the good music executives. It’s hard for anyone to think too clearly during and after a three martini lunch. Let’s cut the guys some slack here. The gals too if any of them were big shot music execs at the time.

Probably there weren’t big shot lady music executives around as the gals would have realized much sooner that it would be much easier to make the thieving rascals who were stealing all of the good music stuff customers in a different Internet way rather than try to scare them into becoming deaf with frequent threats and letters from expensive lawyers.

But anyhow, the music industry folks finally did realize that the Internet was not going to be a fad after all and that never in the history of this world has there been a better way to distribute a product, especially a product that could be digitilized like music, and distributed worldwide over the Internet at so little cost.

Hey, there’s money to be made if the music goes through the proper Internet distibution channels. Their channels. Those shopping mall stores cost too much to operate anyway.

So what if it took the music industry guys until 2005 to fall into love with the Internet. Now they are in a firm loving embrace and are happy to have zillions of folks from all over the world paying them a little bit every time they download a song or two.

After all when you multiply any little old number times a zillion the total surely does add up fast.

There are still plently of folks who like to download free music but the paid sites are a lot more convienant to use and there is a lot less chance of sucking in some malware, syyware, or some really nasty computer virus during your download. The sound quality will be much better at most of the legal download sites as well, which is important to music lovers, so the pay for downloading model seems to be sound.

The future of music distribution, artists websites, movie distribution, software distribution, in fact anything that can be digitialized and downloaded to your compuer no matter where in the world you are located, looks to be bright.

People everywhere love their music and the Internet is just a dandy way to get it to them fast. And now we have Ipods. And MP3 devices, and more zillions of music loving people using them. The music industry mogals should easily be able to afford those fancy expensive lunches for a very long time.

And of course now they will tell you so. They knew that distributing music over the internet would be a big winner someday. In fact, to hear them tell it now they planned the whole thing.

When you are a music enthusiast, you are permanently striving to take your passion for music to the next level by regularly updating your music collection and looking for information on your favorite artists and bands. Considering the fact that most offline music resources charge considerable fees for music purchases (CDs, cassettes and old records), lots of young music enthusiasts are turning to the Internet for satisfying their insatiable passion for music.

Websites that offer members and / or visitors the opportunity to download free music online and to keep the pace with the latest musical trends and rumors have become increasingly popular in the last few years, drawing thousands of visitors to their online pages every day. By allowing people to access the latest information regarding their favorite bands, solo artists, future concerts and various other music events, as well as enabling them to find and download music from an extensive, well-structured database free of charge, free music download-offering websites are much appreciated by all categories of age, especially the young!

With so many free music download-offering websites out there, the task of finding and downloading your favorite songs is quick and simple. Among the myriad music websites accessible online it is virtually impossible not to find your favorite music in free downloadable format. However, it is important to note that music downloads generally become free only after a certain amount of time, and only if the artists / bands allow it. Thus, due to perfectly understandable reasons, to find freshly released songs from your favorite music artists in free downloadable format and fully compliant with copyright regulations is very difficult. Ignoring this minor disadvantage, free music download-offering websites completely deserve the great popularity and the excellent feed-back they have been receiving these days.

Although the Internet is filled with free music download-offering websites, it is important to separate the good websites from the rest in order to obtain the best results. When you are looking for high-quality music downloads (the best music downloads are usually compressed in 128 kb/s or higher mp3 or WAV format), an extensive, well-organized and regularly updated free music download library and the latest news regarding your favorite music artists and bands, you should only stick with the serious, reliable and dedicated websites. Once you have found the website that can efficiently service your needs and requirements, you can enjoy music downloads and stay in touch with the latest music news free of charge and with minimal effort.

While some free music download-offering websites are only addressed to music fans, others also enable existing and aspiring bands and artists to promote their music online and achieve better exposure. For the unsigned artist, such websites are the perfect place to start building a successful, long-lasting and rewarding musical career. With the help of the previously mentioned websites, unsigned artists and bands can post demo songs, shows, photos, as well as communicate with fans and meet other artists to collaborate with in the future. Nevertheless, this innovative feature greatly improves the prospects of unsigned artists to get noticed by industry professionals and thus accelerate their way to fame and success. Unlike regular free music download-offering websites, the ones that account for both the needs of aspiring artists and music listeners deserve extra attention and appreciation from music enthusiasts.

So, if you want to find more about free music downloads or even about unsigned artist, please go ahead and click on these links.

Rock music, where did it all begin? Believe it or not a black man who played black music, originally founded rock music in the mid 50s, this man was Chuck Berry. Rock became popular almost over night, and was accepted with open arms by the younger generations. This was largely due to younger generations who were excited by the thought of having music that expressed their rebellious streak and their desires to promote anti-conformism.

This style of music is a far cry from the modern rock music of today that has evolved over the decades and branched out into a multitude of different genres and sub-genres to create music that is more a way of life than entertainment. However, the still prominent fact that rock is a form of self-expression and non-conformist desire still remains strong even after all this time.

Rock music grew stronger and stronger with idols such as Elvis Presley, around this time many of the black rock and roll artists left the rock music scene and in their place were a host of other white rockers with a style and look all of their own.

After Elvis Presley’s famous entrance, other well known rock idols and bands started popping up from everywhere, but something was lost along the way, rockers started losing sight the whole reason that rock and roll had become popular in the first place, which was non conformist and rebellious attitudes.

During this time rock, took a huge nosedive with the younger generations, who were uninterested in a mixture of country music, folk songs, and rock music. This was in the late fifties and musicians such as Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers were foremost rockers in the rock music scene.

Just as things were looking bleak, Bob Dylan entered the scene during the Vietnam War and held the heart and attention of many youth of the era with his songs of the Vietnam War and civil rights. Around this time, the Beach Boys changed the rock music scene with their new style of rock.

California had its own unique spin on rock and roll, which contained very sophisticated and vocal harmonies; this style of rock music was a change from the empathetic shouting that had first been introduced by the black musicians in the mid 50s.

In the early sixties, Britain took on a whole new aspect of rock and created a rage with bands such as the Rolling Stones and the Animals. During this era, the Yard birds also debuted and although they were in the shadows of the Rolling Stones, they were in fact the beginnings of something great, the musicians from this band were later on to revolutionize rock music all over again.

Nevertheless, it was the birth of the Beatles that created a worldwide mania and the beginning of rock music as a business was really born. Following the Beatles, the second generation of rockers were the Kinks and the Who, the Who had changed rock music forever with their mechanically amplified guitars and songs dedicated to the angry frustrated youth of the 60s

The seventies saw the death of Jimmy Hendrix, and the Doors Jim Morrison, and rock music cooled down. New bands, such as Nirvana and the Eagles, began a more peaceful revival of country music mixed with soft rock. The seventies were characterized by a quieter time in rock music.

The nineties saw the age of electronic music, and this new rage spread all over the world, and saw an era of many different genres of rock music, blended music and dance music mixed together. The 90s were also the decade of heavy metal and bands such as Guns and Roses and Metallica. This style of music split into a myriad of other sub-genres such as the funk-metal of Red-Hot-Chilli-Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and Faith No More.

It is hard to believe that today’s rock music began with a single black man, singing a hybrid type of the blues, and flourished over the last five decades to become not only a choice, but also a way of life.

Rock music has evolved to become an array of different styles and sub categories, which provide enjoyment for a multitude of different tastes in music. What the future holds for rock music may not be known, although it is safe to say the rock music will still be around for the next five decades.

With the advent of the internet there is no longer any excuse for not learning music if a person wants to learn. Learning music online has revolutionized learning, since it is the first time in history that anyone with a computer can virtually find out anything they want to know about music — and find out quick!
There are sites galore teaching everything about music from chords to trombone lessons to drum lessons to music theory lessons to guitar lessons to piano lessons, and a whole lot more. Many are free while others charge a very reasonable tuition. But think what a bargain that is; no travel, no traffic jams; no rescheduling lessons; no missed lessons; and because the lessons are online (or in some cases on CD’s and DVD’s) they can be replayed over and over until the lesson is thoroughly learned, which is not the case in a personal lesson or a college classroom. You have one chance to understand, and if you don’t, you’re immediately behind the curve and have to do extra studies to catch up. Not so with online music lessons.
Back just 15 years ago if an individual wanted to learn music, about the only places he or she could do so would be from a private teacher, a music school of some sort — private or public or correspondence, or self-taught from a music book. All of which is fine, but slow if an individual is really chomping at the bit to learn, and learn fast.
But today there are literally hundreds of sites on the internet from which any ambitious person can access and learn virtually anything they want about music. There are sites dealing with music instruction for beginners as well as college-level sites that deal with figured bass and advanced music theory and composition issues, as well as improvisation and arranging music.
For example, there are piano lesson sites that teach how to improvise — all styles of improvisation including jazz, rock, gospel, new age music and more. There are piano instruction sites that shows you how to play piano sheet music as a map, instead of having to sight read the printed music as it is written. By learning how to do this, you can create your own free piano sheet music by creating a song and then notating it in a music software program such as Finale using piano tabs, piano chords, and chord symbols. A person can learn to play piano notes by the fist-full by learning piano chording music styles.
Learning to play the piano, learning to read piano music, learning piano songs from classical music to popular music is one of the most fun things a person can do. There are piano lessons online using major chords, minor chords, 7th chords, and all kinds of chord progressions. Learning to play the piano music of your dreams using piano chords & piano chording techniques is now within the reach of anyone with an internet connection! And don’t forget harmony and music theory — including scales and fingering of scale and chord passages in musical scores and sheet music — it’s all available online. Music history and music appreciation is important too — guys like Bach & Mozart & Beethoven & Chopin knew what they were doing — and we can learn much from them and stand on their shoulders simply by accessing the biggest library in the history of mankind — the cyber library of the internet.
Here are just a few of the phrases you can search online that will lead you to sites where you can learn music online (I have used piano and guitar as an example, but obviously you can search for anything from singing lessons to drum lessons to harp playing and everything in between):
*	piano lessons
*	music lessons
*	guitar lessons
*	guitar chords
*	piano chords
*	how to form chords
*	chord piano
*	play guitar
*	play piano
*	learn guitar
*	learn piano
*	guitar playing
*	piano playing
*       learn music online
You will find that if you type “music lessons online” into the Google search box, you will come up with something like eight million results! “Piano lessons” will call up about a million and a half, while “guitar lessons online” will bring up over two million search results.
With this abundance of material online, there is no excuse for anyone who really wants to learn music to not avail themselves of the opportunity, especially when they realize that this is the first time in the history of the world that this riches of knowledge has been available with just the click of a mouse.

Unlimited music downloads was a dream to music lovers in the past. Today it has become a reality to us. With so many online music stores, we are able to find songs we love, download them onto our computer or portable media device such as the MP3 player. This article would share with you what are some of the benefits of downloading music online and why it will take over traditional music CD as the largest source of music for the world.

Benefits of Downloading Music Online

1. Convenience of Music Downloads

You can access to unlimited music downloads anywhere you want with an internet connection and media file players such as Windows Media Player, Real One Player, etc. You dont have to hunt for a music store, nor step out of your house to get hold of a CD.

2. Ease and Speed of Downloading Music

Did you know that searching, finding and downloading can be done in double-quick time? In fact, once you have identified the list of songs you wish to download, you can leave your desk, and go for a short break. When you are back, the music downloads would have been complete and they are hot for playing. Forget about having to ransack the music CD store to look for your favorite songs and singer.

Gone were the days when you are forced to buy a whole CD even if you only like one song inside. With an unlimited music downloads, you have a choice as to what song title you wish to download and listen. There is no need to skip those songs you dont really want to listen to so you can relax and plug in only to your favorites.

With MP3 media, it is so simple to store your music. Nowadays, the prices of MP3 players such as iPod, iRiver, Creative, etc have become affordable even for those models with huge disk capacity. Remember those days when we have to carry large CD cases whenever we travel around, and those clumsy moments of switching from one CD to another? A matchbox size MP3 player can easily store a few hundred songs.

There is one beauty about unlimited music downloads that must be mentioned here. You no longer have to go through the tedious process of ripping songs from CDs and burning them either to a CD or transferring them to your MP3 player.
